UP private MBBS fees vs NEET cutoffs 2025: what did a lower annual fee actually mean?

We joined verified annual tuition to the published 2025 closing rank for the same MBBS college and seat group. The study covers 36 private colleges and five minority colleges, while keeping PRIVATE/GEN and MINORITY/MINORITY_OPEN results separate.

The headline finding

Private-college annual tuition ranged from ₹11.04 lakh to ₹19.78 lakh, with a median of ₹14.14 lakh. Higher-fee colleges tended to show higher numerical closing ranks in several rounds, but the fee quartiles were not perfectly ordered. Price alone was not a reliable shortcut for judging admission difficulty.

Private fees and cutoffs by round

Every row below uses PRIVATE/GEN only. A higher closing-rank number means the published round extended farther numerically; it does not guarantee that the same pattern will repeat.

Correlation is descriptive, not causal or predictive. Later rounds also contain fewer colleges.

Fee quartiles show why price is not a simple cutoff rule

If lower fee always meant a tougher cutoff, the median closing rank would progress neatly across the four groups. It did not: the second-lowest fee quartile had the lowest median rank in both R1 and R2.

Minority colleges: a separate five-college sample

Minority seats use MINORITY_OPEN, not GEN. Their annual tuition ranged from ₹15.69 lakh to ₹18.00 lakh. Because only five colleges appear in R1 and fewer appear later, this table is useful as college-level history but not as a broad correlation rule.

Methodology and limits

  • Evidence: 260 compact rows, including 41 verified fee records and 155 joined college-round records.
  • Join rule: the same college code, MBBS programme and seat group; coverage was 100% in every represented round.
  • Population rule: PRIVATE/GEN and MINORITY/MINORITY_OPEN were never pooled.
  • Fee boundary: annual tuition only. Hostel, other mandatory charges and total course cost are not inferred.
  • Quality checks: Exact duplicate fee keys: zero. Duplicate cutoff keys: zero.

Frequently asked questions

What was the lowest verified annual MBBS tuition fee in this UP 2025 dataset?

The lowest private-seat annual tuition in this evidence was ₹11,03,932 at Prasad Medical College, Lucknow. This is tuition only; hostel and other charges are not added unless separately published.

What was the median UP private MBBS fee in 2025?

Across 36 private colleges, the median verified annual tuition was ₹14,14,159. The observed range was ₹11,03,932 to ₹19,78,214.

What was the median private MBBS closing rank in UP NEET Round 1?

For 36 PRIVATE/GEN colleges, the 2025 Round 1 median closing rank was 251,698 NEET AIR. The Round 2 median was 378,673.

Does a higher private medical college fee mean admission is easier?

No. The 2025 data shows a positive descriptive fee/rank relationship in several rounds, but the fee quartiles are not perfectly ordered and correlation does not prove causation or predict a future cutoff.

Are UP minority medical college cutoffs combined with private GEN cutoffs?

No. PRIVATE/GEN and MINORITY/MINORITY_OPEN are different populations and are shown separately. The minority analysis contains only five colleges in Round 1, so it is treated as a small sample.
