KCET 2025 cutoff movement by round

AdmiScan analysed 53,573 usable KCET 2025 closing-rank rows across 3 rounds. Among 16,268 exact college-course-seat-region-category combinations that appeared in at least two rounds, 13,709 finished at a higher closing rank than where they started.

What changed across KCET rounds?

A higher closing rank means that an exact college-course-seat-region-category combination remained available to a numerically larger rank. In this dataset, 84.3% of matched combinations moved that way between their first and last observed round.

Only 0.8% moved to a lower closing rank, while 14.9% were unchanged. The median first-to-last movement was 19,932.5 ranks and the arithmetic average was 34,153.3 ranks.

That does not mean every student should wait for a later round. Movement varies sharply by college, branch, category and seat region, and some combinations became more competitive instead.

Examples of large late-round relaxation

These are observed examples from exact matched keys, not predictions. Large movements can occur when demand, vacancies or category-specific seat dynamics change between rounds.

How to use this in KCET choice filling

Use historical movement to identify choices that may still deserve a place above safer options. Do not remove an ambitious college or branch simply because its earlier-round cutoff looked out of reach.

At the same time, do not assume a large 2025 movement will repeat. Your category, seat region and exact branch matter, and current-year vacancy patterns can differ.

Methodology and limitations

Source scope: AdmiScan's verified KCET 2025 cutoff dataset contained 53,573 usable closing-rank rows across 229 college codes, 197 course labels, 2 seat regions, 48 categories and 3 rounds.

Comparisons require the same college, course, seat region and category. AdmiScan then compares the first and last round in which that exact key appears. There were 16,268 such comparable keys.

College and course naming follows the source dataset. Historical cutoffs are evidence, not guarantees of future allotment. Use this research together with current official KEA counselling information and your own category/seat-region eligibility.
