Maharashtra NEET 2025 category-wise cutoff profiles and round movement

AdmiScan analysed 3,664 verified cutoff rows across 47 Maharashtra colleges, 38 published categories and Rounds 1, 2 and 3. This page compares category-level median closing AIR with exact matched-key movement so that the two measures are not confused.

What the 2025 evidence says

  • • OPEN: 46 exact R1→R3 matched keys had a median percentage movement of +22.15%; all 46 relaxed to a higher closing AIR.
  • • OPEN (W): 45 matched keys had a median movement of +24.04%; all 45 relaxed.
  • • SC: all 46 matched R1→R3 keys relaxed, with median matched movement of +8.16%.
  • • OBC: 43 of 46 matched keys relaxed and none tightened; median matched movement was +5.93%.
  • • Zero median movement does not mean nothing changed. NTB and VJA had a zero matched median because unchanged keys dominated, while some individual college-category keys still relaxed.

Major Maharashtra category profiles

R1, R2 and R3 columns are aggregate category medians for that round. The matched percentage column is calculated separately using exact college-programme-seat-group-category keys present in both R1 and R3.

Women's category profiles

Women's category codes remain separate rather than being pooled into the corresponding non-women category. This preserves the categories exactly as represented by the verified counselling data.

Aggregate medians and matched movement answer different questions

Aggregate round median: describes the middle closing AIR among all available keys for one category in one round.

Matched movement: compares only the same college, programme, seat group and category between two rounds. This is the safer statistic when the question is how the same published cutoff key changed over time.

The two values should therefore not be subtracted from each other or interpreted as interchangeable.

Scope and limitations

This study covers the verified Maharashtra 2025 MBBS/BDS cutoff dataset for government, government-aided and corporation institutions represented by the GOVERNMENT seat group. It does not claim to describe private or minority cutoff behaviour.

PWD and defence categories are retained in the underlying evidence but are not used as the main headline comparison here. Narrow-category behaviour can be much more volatile than the large mainstream category profiles.

A higher historical closing AIR means that a published cutoff extended to a numerically higher rank in that observation. It does not guarantee that the same movement will occur in a future counselling year.

Candidates should verify current rules, eligibility, seat matrices and notices directly with the Maharashtra State CET Cell NEET-UG portal.

Frequently asked questions

What was the Maharashtra NEET 2025 OPEN category cutoff movement?

Across the supported government-seat dataset, the aggregate OPEN median closing AIR was 26,843 in Round 1, 29,093 in Round 2 and 29,968 in Round 3. Among 46 exact R1-to-R3 matched keys, the median percentage movement was +22.15%, and all 46 matched keys relaxed to a higher closing AIR.

Which major Maharashtra NEET category showed the largest matched movement?

Among the headline profiles shown in this study, OPEN (W) had the largest median matched R1-to-R3 percentage movement at +24.04%, followed by OPEN at +22.15%. This is historical 2025 evidence, not a prediction for a future round.

Why can aggregate category medians differ from matched cutoff movement?

Aggregate medians describe all available category keys in each individual round. Matched movement uses only the exact college, programme, seat-group and category keys present in both compared rounds. Because the populations differ, the two statistics answer different questions.

Does this Maharashtra category study include private and minority medical colleges?

No. The analysed cutoff scope is the verified Maharashtra government, government-aided and corporation MBBS/BDS dataset represented by the GOVERNMENT seat group. Private or minority cutoff behaviour should not be inferred from this page.
